A live recording of myself performing a Doowop track with the 3tones.
This track was commissioned by a local film maker for a yet to be released art project. However a friend of mine insisted that it would sound good with some rapping over the top, and not having access to a rapper in the studio at that time I chopped up an accapella from Nas and layered it over the top. We quite liked this version so here it is!
Electronic music Producer Paul Hardy ordered some drums for a track, he loved the recording so much that he re-sampled the drums and used them for another track he was working on. Have a listen below!
All we had was a small room filled with mostly junk. Myself and pianist Mike Sole pushed everything to one side and created a space big enough to mackle together a small drum kit and set up his Rhodes keyboard. A quick visit to the shop and with a case of beer at our side we played, this is one of those "in the moment" jams that flowed kinda well, and whilst its not polished, the sound is kinda bad and we float around in time and space, I'm proud of it.
It reminds me that music always finds a way, no matter how small a space you have, or what gear there may be around.
Jamming is always good, and hey maybe one day it will get recorded in abbey road studios. You never know :)
First there was rocks, then came humans, then humans hit the rocks and everybody danced. At least that's what I got told by my teacher. Well the only teacher I would actually listen to completely, my Drum teacher of course!
